Dark Romance Feature: Sweet Possession

Title: Sweet Possession
Authors: Lucy Smoke & A.J. Macey
Genre: Dark Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 30, 2020

Blurb

I had a chance, once, to play the good girl. I could’ve kept my mouth shut and stayed out of the line of fire. Had I done that, more people might’ve been hurt. So, I came forward and subsequently, I lost everything I’d ever loved.

I lost my family.
I lost my home.
I lost my identity.
I lost … them.

But now they’re back. At least, I think they are. I can feel their eyes watching my every movement, stalking me. They aren’t here to threaten me or to hurt me. They’re here to protect me. To watch over me. Because to them, I’m everything they desire.

I am their love.
I am their hate.
I am their infatuation.
Their sweet possession.

How long can they stand to stay in the shadows when a new danger threatens to tear us apart again?

“You belong to us,” he stated simply. “You’re ours, and until such a time as that changes—which will be fucking never if I have anything to say about it—your whereabouts are my business.”
Cue fucking eyeroll. “Wow, caveman much?” I asked.
His eyes slid to me and before I knew it, he was cutting the SUV down a short back road and pulling up short, slapping the vehicle into park. “You want me to prove it to you?” he demanded.
Staring at him, wide-eyed, I gaped. “W-what?”
“I can prove that I own your luscious ass, Mare, right now.” He held out his hand. “Hand over your panties.”
Shock rolled through me. “What? No, I’m not going to do that.” I glanced around the street, but thankfully it seemed deserted. Still, this wasn’t exactly private. “Not here.”
“Oh yes, you are,” he replied, keeping that hand up, palm out. “Give me your underwear and if I find them as dry as the Sahara, then I’ll retract my claim of ownership.”
I frowned. There was no fucking way they’d be dry. My panties were soaked. Had been since the moment he’d shown up at the library, hovering over Ben like an angry warrior protecting its territory. Maybe it was weird that I found his possessiveness such a turn on, but who the fuck cared? I looked away from his expectant gaze.
“I can’t give you my panties here,” I said, my voice lowering. “Someone could walk by.”
He shook his head. “You don’t need to concern yourself with that,” he said. “You let me worry about whether or not we’ll get caught. You think I don’t know where to get you alone?” He dropped his hand and unclipped his seatbelt to lean across the console. “I know every nook and fucking cranny of this city, Mare. I know where I need to get you alone,” he said, his breath hot on my cheek. My thighs clenched automatically while his lips turned up at the corners. He fucking knew what he was doing to me. “We’ve been watching you for a long time, my little brat.” He reached down and unclipped my seatbelt. “Now, hand over your fucking panties and let me see if my little girl’s pussy is as wet as I think it is.”
I fucking pulsed. Staring into his commanding gaze, my heart thundered in my chest. My fingers shook as I dipped them to the top of my pants. Closing my eyes for a brief respite from his eyes, I inhaled a breath. Shoving my pants down, I struggled to get out of my shoes and slipped them over my hips until I was clad in nothing more than my t-shirt, jacket, and the panties Ian was so interested in.
“I’m waiting, Mare.” There it was. That reminder of what he expected.
Biting my lip, I shoved the thin pair of satiny briefs down my legs, ripping them off and balling them up in my fist as I pressed my thighs closer together. I debated throwing them at him, and as if he could sense my intention, the bastard shook his head and grinned. “In my hand, sweetheart,” he directed. “Place them in the center of my palm.”
I reached forward, my whole body shivering in anticipation. I held my hand with the crumpled panties in my fist over his and with each finger that released the fabric, my heart rate kicked up another notch. Finally, they were dropped in his hand and I sat back, watching with wide eyes as he lifted them to his nose and inhaled deeply, his eyes closing as if he were taking in the most exquisite aroma. When they reopened and centered on me, he smiled. “Oh, baby,” he said, “you really are mine, aren’t you?” Leaning forward he tucked the panties into his back pocket. “You can put your pants and shoes back on, Mare. We’ve got to get you home.”
“W-what?” I stared at him. He couldn’t be fucking serious.
He chuckled low. “You’ve got work early in the morning, sweetheart. Consider this your punishment for not giving them to me when I asked. Maybe next time you’ll be the good girl I know you can be and do what I say the first time I say it.”

Author Bio

Just the fact that someone may be reading my ‘bio’ thrills me. What does one say in an author bio? Well, I LOVE to write! Sometimes characters talk to me in my head (in a non-psychotic way) and I have to get what they are saying out on paper! So, here we are!  J

I am a part-time juvenile probation officer and full-time wife, but I spend the majority of the time helping my two favorite, college-aged sons navigate through life and hopefully become the best humans they can be.

I am a huge fan of the Kansas Jayhawks, the Oregon Ducks, the Chicago Cubs (I have a dog named Wrigley) and the Kansas City Chiefs.

I’m terribly addicted to music—ALLLLL kinds and driving in the car with the sunroof open and radio turned up helps the creative juices flow.

I am deliciously addicted to queso and cupcakes; but even with that…I like to slowly kill my body with Crossfit. I’m annoyingly sarcastic.

People ask me ‘what has been your favorite book to write’—I would have to say my original series. (I think it sold 100 copies)  J   FINALLY, I’m tweaking them! My heart was poured into these books—but they needed tweaking.  Slick was my Amazon best seller, but every one of them mean something to me.

In the end, I truly believe life is taken way too seriously by most. I say enjoy every moment, have an adult beverage and READ!! Cheers….

The first day of school is coming… and I’m going to be in the noisy class. Any class but the noisy class will do!

A young girl is about to enter the third grade, but this year she’s put into Ms. Johnson’s noisy class. Everything about the noisy class is odd. While all the other classes are quiet, Ms. Johnson sings and the kids chatter all day. The door is always closed, yet sounds from it can be heard in the hallway. With summer coming to an end and school starting, the girl realizes that soon she’ll be going to the noisy class. What will school be like now?

Featuring the honest and delightful humor of debut author Angela Shanté and the bold, graphic imagery of debut illustrator Alison Hawkins, The Noisy Classroom encourages those with first-day jitters to reevaluate a scary situation by looking at it from a different angle and to embrace how fun school can be, even in nontraditional ways.

About the Author

Angela Shanté is writer, poet, editor, and educator, with a Masters in Elementary Education and an MFA in Creative Writing. She has taught elementary school for ten years. In her own classroom, she believes in having fun, playing games, moving around, dancing, and enjoying the education experience, even if it occasionally gets loud. Romantic Comedy Feature: Spooning Leads to Forking

Title: Spooning Leads to Forking
Series: Hot in the Kitchen #2
Author: Kilby Blades
Genre: Contemporary Romance/Romantic Comedy
Release Date: April 28, 2020

Blurb

Leaving her name—and her job as a top food critic—behind in New York, Shea Summers seeks respite in Sapling. Her borrowed mountain getaway seems perfect for writing her opus. It’s also perfect for riding out a messy divorce and hiding the roomful of cash she kind-of-sort-of stole from her ex.

Too bad Sapling is a remote, three-restaurant town with food that leaves much to be desired. Sexy grocer, Dev Kingston, may be Shea’s saving grace. The way he looks at her with his aspen-green eyes shows her everything her marriage was missing, and he can special-order every delicacy she craves.

But Shea’s not the only one who isn’t what she seems. Dev moonlights as a sheriff’s deputy, a fact she finds out too late; a string of suspicious crimes finds newcomers under scrutiny; and her ex is going to extremes to find out where she is.

Taking the money and living under an assumed name might be on the right side of wrong, but dating Dev is a dangerous game. She's still running and he's still the law.

Excerpt

Dev Kingston has some nerve, Shea said to herself rather unreasonably. She’d been mentally cursing the man all morning. He was utterly responsible for her lack of concentration. Maybe some of the blame ought to be put on Delilah, whose abrupt disappearance the night before had perpetrated events that left Shea and Dev alone in his car.

Even before last night, Shea had struggled to remain impervious to his charm. Seeing him with Evie had done nothing to diminish his appeal. There were few things more attractive than a man who doted on his momma. Then, to be in his car, surrounded by a cocoon of his citrusy, spicy aroma had made Shea ache to do spicy things.

Don’t forget the arm squeeze, sex-starved Shea reminded reasonable Shea, as if any version of Shea could forget. It was the least-perfunctory cheek kiss she’d ever received. His big hand had cuffed her upper arm firmly. His green eyes had narrowed slightly, telegraphing something complex before warm lips delivered a too-brief kiss to her cheek.

A wave of his delectable scent had filled her senses as soon as he’d pulled back and she might have leant forward just a bit—her nose’s attempt to follow. She might’ve taken it farther, trailing said nose up the column of his beautiful neck, if his voice hadn’t broken the spell, speaking a deep, “Good night.”

Non Fiction Feature: Clean Water for Developing Countries by John A. Dracup, PhD #blogtour #bookreview #giveaway #nonfiction #rabtbooktours @RABTBookTours

Environmental Studies
Date Published: January 8, 2020
Publisher: Clean Water Press

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

The main purpose of this book is to assist the reader in choosing the best method for providing clean and safe water in a developing country. Most of the book’s content comes from the knowledge gained from:

-Fifty-plus years of research and teaching in water resource engineering, hydrology and clean water for developing countries at both the University of California, Los Angeles, and the University of California, Berkeley.

-Thirty-five years as an expert witness on numerous hydrologic and water resource engineering legal cases.

-Clean water projects that I was involved with in Kenya, Peru, Honduras and Guatemala between 2011 and 2017.

-Attendance at various courses including ones at the Centre for Affordable Water & Sanitation Technologies (CAWST) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and at “Potters for Peace” in Dodgeville, Wisconsin.

-My many colleagues and students.

The sites needing clean water can be diverse, e.g. an individual household, an entire village, a group of villages, a school, a clinic, an orphanage, etc. The focus of this book is to provide the reader with a basic understanding of how to bring clean water supplies to these entities. The optimal approaches will depend on both the Point of Use (POU), which may be large or small, and the state of the water (quantity, turbidity, type and concentration of pathogens/bacteria/viruses present) at the water source. Point of Use (POU) is the location where the water is to be consumed.

The majority of those impacted by unsafe water live in isolated rural areas of the developing world. Cost, sustainability, cultural differences and acceptance by those who will use the water are all important factors in providing clean drinking water to these people.

These factors include:

-Community Involvement. By far, the most successful water enhancements in developing countries are tied to community organizations, particularly among the female population.

-The Source of Water. It could be from groundwater, rainwater harvesting or surface water, such as springs, creeks, rivers, lakes and reservoirs.

-The Quality of the Source Water. The water may have physical, biological and/or chemical pollution.
The Size of the Demand Population. Is it an individual household, a school, an orphanage, a small or large village, or a group of villages? Obviously, this affects the amount/volume of clean water needed, and this affects the methodology to be used.

-The location of the population to be served. Are they close together or widely dispersed?

"Tell me something about you, Evie." Evie's gaze darted to Luca, then away. She chewed her bottom lip, seemingly contemplating whether to tell him something or not.
"I like computers." Luca's brows shot up. It wasn't a surprise, he'd suspected as much, but he thought she'd share something trivial, like a favorite color.
"Makes sense. You learned how to use the online system at work pretty quickly." Evie's eyes dropped to her feet at the compliment, but Luca saw a hint of a smile on her lips. "What do you spend most of your time doing on computers?"
Evie shrugged, looking uncomfortable for a moment. "Not much. Just some gaming and things."
Lie. Evie had just told Luca a lie. He could tell by her pupils dilating, her gaze darting away. There had also been a slight hitch in her heart rate. Why would she lie about that?
"Ever thought about studying IT?" Luca pushed.
There was another pause before Evie's gaze dropped, and she continued, "No. I, uh . . . it hadn't really crossed my mind."
Another lie. Interesting.
As Evie took another step, her foot caught on something, and Luca could see she was going to tumble down. Catching her arm with his lightning reflexes, Luca held her body against his. Her skin was warm to touch where her shirt had risen slightly.
When Evie glanced up. Luca could smell vanilla and strawberries on her. She was all soft and delicate, where he was hard and not delicate. He had to fight the urge to pull her head up and press his lips to hers.
"Go on a date with me."
It was a statement, but Luca still needed a yes. Evie looked taken aback. Luca was a bit too. He hadn't anticipated those words to leave his mouth, but now that they had, they felt right. Knowing what kind of response he was going to receive before she spoke the words, Luca patiently waited to rebut.
"I can't."
Wishing she would expand, he was disappointed when only silence followed.
Not willing to give up so easily, Luca lowered his head and placed his lips next to her ear.
"Go on a date with me."
He felt the shiver run up her spine. Evie's head turned, and her lips were a mere few centimeters from his. Her warm breath touched his lips. If he just lowered his head a fraction, they would be touching.
The indecision was clear to see in her eyes, but beneath that, he could see the desire. It was almost a desperate yearning to say yes. Deciding he didn't want to play fair, Luca pulled Evie closer. She wanted him as much as he wanted her.
"Say yes," Luca started a gentle stroke on the inside of the wrist as he whispered the words into her ear. "Please."
Trailing his mouth down her neck, his lips never touched her, but the promise was there.
"Yes."
