Egyptologist Magdalene Shaffer finds more than antiquities when she discovers a treasure of dragon tears. She escapes a brutal attack with the aid of an ancient god and the magic of the tears.

Maggie takes refuge, as a stow-a-way, in a trade carvan heading to Kismera, home to the Werre. Her escort is Cearan Lionblade, brother to the infamous Ki Lionblade. As they travel to Oralia, Cearan falls for the feisty flame-haired beauty.

His love is tested when Maggie is kidnapped and he must follow her, calling on the power of the lion that lives within him, as he goes into a world full of unknown dangers.

Review

This is a fantasy novel that is not simply action and adventure and fantasy, it is deep and involved the entire way through. There is a lot going on and these characters go through quite a bit over the course of the novel. I enjoyed that fact. I liked how much we got to experience throughout their journey.

I liked the growth the characters showed in this novel. There wasn't any character who seemed stagnate, which was great.

The flow of this novel was well done and I found myself flipping pages quite quickly to keep the story going.

And lastly, the romance was beautifully told and unfolded steadily and believably. I was invested in that part of the characters journey as well.
