Book Tour: She Do Run Run by Amy Swifton #review and #giveaway

Romantic Suspense
Date Published: September 26, 2017
Publisher: Broadback

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

She Do Run Run is a fast, double-shot-of-espresso read. Its heart-racing story can be consumed in a few quick hours.

Jenny’s life is shattered when her Special Ops husband is killed. To escape the pain, she falls into a dangerous cycle of random sex and booze, and one night she kills a violent man.

She runs off into the unknown, desperate to survive and change her life. That’s when Lieutenant Jon Dowling appears.

Review

You will definitely want to have plenty of allotted reading time before starting this one. It was hard to put down. I was so engrossed in the story that I put off many of my important things to do. Amy Swifton does a great job of creating a Romantic Suspense that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. I was anticipating each thing, yet surprised the whole way through.

The Romantic element helps lighten the mood. I think the Romance was believable and unfolded smoothly which is always important. I don't like when Romances seem forced, this one seemed natural.

This can be enjoyed by all fans of Romantic Suspense.

Review

This is a strong novel about life, love ,and hope and really gives the tools needed to improve ones outlook on life and relationships.

I liked the way that this was set up, the writing style was well done and easy to follow.  It is separated into sections that made sense and were each well thought out.

There were many lighthearted and comedic things thrown in that keeps this novel light and spirited. It also touches on the deeper issues that face many LGBTQ people and helps give hope and tools to deal with certain situations.

Born in Bronx, New York, and raised in Fresno, California, Christopher relocated to Hollywood, California, at age twenty-one, after being accepted into a Writers Guild of America, West, scholarship program for young writers.
Four months later, he was hired as Los Angeles Editor for Stage Door, Canada’s weekly entertainment trade weekly. Christopher went on to become a regular contributor to many of America’s most popular print publications, writing hundreds of entertainment and lifestyle features, interviews, and reviews.
He became a member of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle, and many of his stories were syndicated worldwide by the New York Times Syndication Corporation.

Christopher’s first book, Re-Creating Your Self was a national hardcover bestseller and he has subsequently co-authored three previous Meditation Journal books with Mary Sheldon.

He has also written three novels.

Mary Sheldon, the daughter of novelist Sidney Sheldon and actress Jorja Curtright, was educated at St. Clare’s Hall in Oxford and Yale University and graduated from Wellesley College with honors in English.  She is the author of ten novels, including Halfway Home, Reflection, Pandora Brown, and  Perhaps I’ll Dream of Darkness, for which she received a Brandeis literary award.  Her nonfiction work includes the Meditation Trilogy, which she coauthored with metaphysical teacher Christopher Stone.  In addition, she has written over a dozen children’s audio books including I Am America(featuring the voices of President and Mrs. Bush, President Nixon, President and Mrs. Ford, and Mrs. Carter, as well as numerous internationally renowned actors,) which won a Children’s Book Choice award, and Audrey Hepburn’s Enchanted Tales, which was honored with a Spoken Word Grammy Award.
Mary is married, with two daughters, and lives in southern California.

Review

I definitely love this series. Definitely pick up the first one before starting this one.

The plot was very well paced and while some parts were easy to predict, there were also plenty of surprises along the way and ultimately it led to a great read overall.

Book Tour: Angels & Patriots by @SalinaBBaker #review and #giveaway

Historical Fantasy
Date Published: December 2017
Publisher: Culper Press

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

Sons of Liberty, Lexington & Concord, Bunker Hill

On the eve of the Revolutionary War, American patriots are leaving their homes and families behind to stand firm against the British. What these early Americans do not realize, is that while they prepare themselves for their battles, a war is simultaneously playing out among the soldiers—one that poses a far greater threat to their lives and souls.

Demons that God created to kill a brotherhood of fallen angels are fanning the embers of the Revolutionary War to draw the angels out of hiding. They walk and fight alongside patriots and British soldiers alike.

Archangel, Colm Bohannon, leads his angel brothers to Boston to track down the demon leader and to warn John Hancock, Samuel Adams, Dr. Joseph Warren, and the Sons of Liberty that the British army is not their only threat. The patriots will need to engage with two enemy forces on the battlefield. As it stands, the band of angels is road weary and struggling with infighting and earthly temptations. Is faith a strong enough shield to fight off demon attacks and protect the patriots?

Angels & Patriots is the violent struggle for freedom, played out on the battlefield and the firmament as the angels fend off the demons in a quest to serve both humans and God.

Review

This was a beautiful piece of story-telling. Such connections made between me as the reader and the vivid characters Baker brought to life. I was very surprised by the amount of emotion she was able to evoke in me. Such deep and up and down tale of trials and triumphs.

Book Tour: Variant Conspiracy: Terra Nova Review @chris_a_hart #review

NA Sci-fi Urban Fantasy
Publisher: Soul Mate Publishing

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

Irina Proffer leaves home to follow creepy visions inspired by odd tarot cards. In BC’s capital, she uncovers a world of fringe genetic science and supernatural mystery. A job that feels too good to be true and a powerful first love almost derail her, but the conspiracy she encounters is terrifying and undeniable.
An engineered earthquake overshadowed by a planned Armageddon forces Irina and her friends to travel south. Their investigation launches a journey that takes them through the Pacific states, into the Mojave Desert, and through a mind-bending portal to London – all while Irina’s love fights for his life.
As the group faces a vicious pandemic virus, they race south again, this time chasing a timeless evil through Europe and Africa. When they finally confront a demonic alien outside a Nairobi slum, it costs them everything as they fight to stop the end of the world.

Book 1

Irina Proffer leaves mundane small-town life behind when she experiences visions inspired by a strange deck of tarot cards. To get answers, she travels from her northern British Columbia home to the province’s coastal capital. She quickly discovers a world of fringe genetic science and supernatural mystery.

Working for Innoviro Industries, Irina is drawn in by a powerful first love and compelling, yet dangerous questions about the nature of the company’s business. Meeting other ‘variants’ brings Irina closer and closer to the dark truth about her origins. She finds herself at the heart of two overlapping love triangles as she scrambles to escape her employer’s grip.

Before she leaves the city, Irina realizes she has merely scratched the surface of a frightening conspiracy on a global scale.

Book 2

Irina and her renegade variant friends are scrambling to pick up the trail of their former employer, Ivan, and his globally catastrophic scheme. After strategically sharing their story with the media, the group heads south from Vancouver to Seattle hoping to recruit more experienced—and lethal—variants to their cause.

Their attention develops a laser focus on an engineered disaster mere days ahead of them. Ivan is using what staff and resources remain of Innoviro Industries to set off a violent earthquake in San Francisco. While they fight to stop the earthquake, Irina pushes the love of her life Jonah as far away as she can, trying to keep his unstable genetic degradation in check.

Irina’s friends think they’ve seen the worst that Innoviro could bring forth by the time they reach a secret facility in the Mojave Desert. As they near the property, the group uncovers a horror none of them had ever imagined.

Book 3

The end of the humanity and an unrecognizable future Earth are now days away. After their first glimpse of the Terra Nova virus, Irina and her variant friends know their former employer’s plans are almost at hand. Their failed attempt to publicize Ivan and Innoviro Industries’ horrific activities has left them utterly reliant on their own wits and weapons.

After surviving a catastrophic earthquake in San Francisco and destroying a secret viral testing facility, Irina’s crew has traveled by a variant portal to London. On the other side of the world, they begin tracking when and where Terra Nova will be unleashed on the world. They know stopping Terra Nova is only the beginning of unraveling Ivan’s plans to reinvent the planet, but if they can’t stop this virus, there will be no one left to save.

My Review of Terra Nova

I liked the diversity of the novel. It pulls together Sci-Fi/Fantasy along with Mystery/Suspense, all of which are executed well and come together seamlessly.
Being that it is a third in a series, the action was present from the get go.  I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoyed the fact that Christine was able to surprise me a couple of times. I always like a novel that keeps me guessing.
I liked that we were given multiple characters to get to know and follow. I liked each of them in their own ways. Some had their positives and negatives, but overall I was a fan of each of them in some way.

Located on BC’s beautiful West Coast, Christine writes speculative fiction for YA & NA readers.  She has an undergraduate degree in writing and literature, a corporate background in communications and design, and an Etsy alter-ego named Sleepless Storyteller. Christine shares her eclectic home and lifestyle with her metal working husband, dancing daughter and rocket enthusiast son.

Review

Daniel Ford has a very clear and concise way to tell his story. The attention to detail really helped me as the reader understand and get invested in the world he wrote about. That in turn helped me become invested in the characters who were all very well developed as well.

here is a lot going on in this novel, but I liked the way that Ford kept me informed and not confused throughout it.
