Biography Feature: Patsy Swayze: Every Day a Chance to Dance by Sue Tabashnik #blogtour #bookreivew #biography #rabtbooktours @RABTBookTours @MKWebsiteandSEO @stabashnik

Biography

Date Published: July 12, 2022

Publisher: Passion Spirit Dreams Press

photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

The book honors and celebrates Patsy Swayze. There are twenty-nine interviews which include her students, colleagues, and friends. Their stories showcase what a trailblazer she was and the extent of her influence on them and on the world. Many of her students continue to carry forward her legacy by following in her giant dance footsteps. There are sixty-four photos, most in color and rarely seen, which help tell this story.

Patsy Swayze was an icon in the dance and performing arts world for decades as a dancer, teacher, mentor, and choreographer. Her work includes founding the Houston Jazz Ballet, teaching at the University of Houston, running her own dance studios, and choreographing for Theatre, Incorporated, Playhouse Theatre, and Hollywood movies. She inspired thousands of dance students, many of whom went on to become professionals in the performing arts, and instilled in all students a strong work ethic and set of values. With that said, she was most proud of her family and thought her greatest achievement was being the mother of five children.

Of course, Patsy had one very famous student, her beloved son Patrick, known as "Buddy" to family and friends. The book touches on the relationship between Patsy and Buddy, and Buddy's life. Another renowned student is Jaclyn Smith, who kindly granted a full-length interview about her experiences with Patsy.

Patsy was a pioneer in opening her dance classes and her heart to all students, regardless of race, economic, or cultural background, and this was no small feat in the fifties and sixties in Houston. In addition, Patsy was known to be extremely philanthropic.

Patsy Swayze continues to touch the lives of multitudes of people, including the author's life. In today's world it is especially wonderful to have such a hero, someone who gave so much to others and has left such a profound legacy.

Review
This was very very good book was surprised the life she has led. The way dance is and was always present in her life and how it shaped every part of it.
Sue does a great job of rendering Patsy to her reader, though I think her life helps with that.
Great book, inspiring. We can learn from the way Patsy lives her life.

Christian Nonfiction Feature: When Your Faith is Tried, Don't Give Up II by Rudolph Burdett #blogtour #bookreview #christian #nonfiction #rabtbooktours @MKWebsiteandSEO @RABTBookTours @RupolphBurnett

Christian Nonfiction

God tells us to endure and be faithful. Sad to say many have gone back into the world by giving up on Christianity because of difficulties and problems. Bad things will try our faith in God. Remember God is always in control and He allows things to happen for a reason.

This book is designed to encourage people that may be thinking about giving up when their faith in God is tried. In each chapter of the book it starts out with a pray, a scripture, humorous illustrations most of the time, then something is stated about faith. Please endure, be patient, and don't give up hell is too hot and eternity too long. "When Your Faith is Tried, Don't Give Up."

Review

I enjoyed every chapter of this book because it spoke truth into my heart.

Recommend reading and sharing with others.

About the Author

Rudolph (Rudy) Burdett Jr. is striving to bring change by presenting faith (gospel) to others. Faith is the only thing we have that the devil is striving to take. Faith is required in pleasing God. Rudy is a devoted and dedicated member and minister of the Church of Christ. He was able to start a congregation in North Carolina in 2002. He resigned in 2007 from preaching and teaching because of a medical condition that hinders him from functioning. Rudy feels that God has called him to help people by preaching the faith and visiting others. He feels helping the less fortunate is needed, especially feeding and clothing. Prayerfully, food and clothing distribution will be a great future endeavor to embark upon. In Matthew 26:11, Jesus says, “You always have the poor with you.”

Mike Thorne does a great job giving us a well-put-together book. He lays things out there and presents a clear picture. I loved the way it flowed, it came off as authentic. We also get a what now approach.

Sci-Fi Time Travel Romance Feature: The Mushroom Effect by M.A. Iori #promo #scifi #timetravel #romance #rabtbooktours @RABTBookTours @BookBuzznet @marcello_iori

Sci-fi Time Travel Romance

Date Published: August 15, 2022

Can you imagine to be able to travel in other worlds and find out that who you love is living a different life without you? A life that you could feel and go through looking for another chance… because let’s be honest, we all make mistakes and often we have thought about a second chance.

This novel narrates the tragic story of two lovers separated by death. Like Orpheus ventured himself to the land of the dead to attempt to bring Eurydice back to life, Francesco will try to find his beloved beyond the boundaries of the understandable. With his singing and playing, Orpheus, charmed the ferryman Charon and the dog Cerberus, guardians of the River Styx. His music and grief so moved Hades, king of the underworld, that Orpheus was allowed to take Eurydice with him back to the world of life and light. Hades set one condition, however: upon leaving the land of death, both Orpheus and Eurydice were forbidden to look back.

She died and he lost his memories of her.

A life that, Francesco, feels destroyed, incurable.

Rehabilitation has failed.

The encouragement of his family was not enough.

Friends put aside.

Except that, suddenly, after months of unlimited suffering, an old schoolmate proposes an ambiguous solution: to try a substance able to take him into a parallel world to meet his lost love. He must travel through an uncharted reality and bend the law of nature in order to regain lost memories. But in this new reality, Francesco meets another girl and new friends.

Who are they and why do they look so familiar?

Will he be able to understand the facets of life's deepest secrets?

New Adult Feature: Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll and Nursing by Raymond Moore #blogtour #giveaway #newadult #fiction #rabtbooktours @RaymondMoore64 @RABTBookTours

New Adult/Adult Fiction

Date Published: 08-04-2022

My flatmate Bill summed me up recently. “Calum,” he said. “Ah love ye man, but when it comes tae women and relationships, you’re a total nightmare.” I'm not a bad guy. I mean ... I'm not. Ask anyone. I'm a nurse, for God’s sake. How bad could I be? Look, I'm not saying I'm an angel – far from it. I'm just saying...

Anyway... I'll let you be the judge.

Leaving Skye, I arrived in Edinburgh in the early 1980s to study nursing. I first met Bill when I moved into a shared flat in Warrender Park and got involved with his band, Low Down. Man, I loved their music and wanted to do anything I could to help them achieve success.

Of course, we took drugs – who didn't?

The thing is, I was selfish – I know that now. Knew it then too, but I was a man on a mission. The way I was living, though, it couldn’t last. I was on a collision course with myself and my karmic reward was waiting to kick me in the head.

Review
This was not my typical read, but I found it full of truths and an entertaining and honest view of life and nursing.
Filled with compassion, yet shows the importance of trial and error in life. Ultimately characters who are committed and passionate about what they do.
Ups and downs, drama, eve  fun, and so much more.
